learning theories
I believe no one is perfect, neither we can apply all the learning theories we have learned, in our teaching. But it is our responsibility to identify the individual difference of the students we teach and hence apply the best method for them in teaching even if it correlates with learning theories or not. These theories are not facts which cannot be changed by anyone. Every theory alone by it self has its own assumptions. so we are the people to change our situations through multiple theories
Theories are more like a guideline as theories are system of ideas intending to explain something. Every student is unique and has a different behavior. So they need to be dealt by identifying their individual differences.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! No theory is worth anything on its own! It is not suprising that we find lots of contradictions among the theories. They each attempt to explain something from one perspective. To paint a better picture, we need to look at it from every possible angle. What works in the West may not necessarily work in the Maldivian classrooms where there is a world of difference in terms of culture.! But then, if the theoies as they are generelisations may bear some relevancy to a situation to a certain extent!
ReplyDeletePeople learn from people. People learn from environment by observing it. Humans learns by integrating prior knowledge with new information. In my opinion everything (knowledge) is out there. We have to work in order to get it. For that we need wisdom and the help of our senses plus brain. People perceive things different. So two people may understand something in more than one way. It depends on many perspectives. The level of education, experience, ability to think so on.
ReplyDeletei agree with suddam, and there for its important our learning environment should be friendly, and place where student feel easy to learn and gain knowledge
